How To stage lighting Hire A Live Band For Your Event

Congratulations! You finally made the decision to choose a live band instead of a DJ for your wedding. Now you are faced with the daunting task of finding the right group. What do you think of them? How much do you have to pay? How long do they have to play? What should I avoid and what should I wear? As a veteran of more than 200 weddings, let me offer you 5 simple ideas that I have learned over the years.

1. Get detailed offers I cannot emphasize how important this is. Sometimes a vague offer can be a good price, but does it contain everything you need and want? Can you choose some songs? Do you have to learn your first dance song? How long do you bet for this amount? How long have you been resting? What type of AP do you want to use? Will they be part of the MC tonight? Do you want to dance and bring stage lights? Does the price include a microphone for toast and speech? If you do not ask and the group does not offer written and detailed offers, you can be very disappointed. Ask for details.

2. Check Band Out: it is always best to see the group directly at the wedding reception. Most "real" groups do business with each bride: "I can take you to this wedding to see the group. As long as your wedding comes, let's bring other potential customers to your wedding. Every bride I've never had problems with this arrangement (note: do not drink alcohol or eat food)

Sometimes you cannot see the group directly. I would say that more than 50% of our customers do NOT see the group that they hire personally. Don't worry if you can't. There are other options. Check if they have live videos. It's hard to pretend you sound good on a recording. Also ask for references and contact them. A good group should submit references with their quote if they don't hide anything. Ask your wedding planner, she knows who a good group is.

3. Think about the kind of music that your guests like: it's much more important than you originally thought. When you hire a group to get people dancing and dancing, you need to hire a group that plays music that many people want to dance to. Two stories illustrate this truth well:

I will never forget when we came to a wedding in Breckenridge, Colorado. The bride only wants country music. His friends and family don't like a country or a dancer. The bride is more than discouraged. But he didn't let us change the music. Result: we played on an empty dance floor for two hours. While the bride was walking, we came in a classic skirt and the dance floor was filled for the rest of the night.

Once we were hired to play country music, and when we performed, everyone wanted 80's heavy metal. The bride hired us because we gave them a lot. We do our best and we do it. It would be a better party for everyone if they hire an 80s metal band that played a small country.

Ask yourself the following question: What kind of music do my parents like to dance to? My husband's parents? What about my college friends? Or my husband's friend. Very simple. Hire a group that can play this music style and you should have a good reception.

4. Write it down in writing: Yes, you need a contract! It makes things easier. Remember that you plant a lot. You can rent a group 6 months before the wedding. They also rent catering, halls, ministers, photographers, florists, ceremonial music, etc. If you have not specified the details of the contract, you can forget the details. It is also a recipe for disaster. A good group will ask for a contract and write this to both of you.

5. Start your search early: if you get married in June or July, find your group 9 to 12 months in advance. The right groups are hired early. If you get married from October to April later, you can start a search 6 months before the wedding. Where to search There are a number of places to search. One of them is the Gigmasters. You can search for all types of groups on their site and limit them to the city and country where you are getting married.
